What to do if You Damage or Lose a Porcelain Veneer

Should you damage of lose one of the porcelain veneers placed by Beverly Hills cosmetic dentist Dr. Kevin Sands, you will simply return to our office to have it replaced. If the tooth has not been damaged, Dr. Sands may be able to simply order a new veneer from our dental lab partners. However, if the tooth has changed in size or shape, Dr. Sands may need to make a new impression for the creation of a replacement veneer. The best solution for your smile will be based on your unique needs.

Preventing Damage

To prevent damaging your porcelain veneers it is best to avoid chewing on hard substances such as candies or ice. You should also try to avoid grinding your teeth as this can make veneers more prone to damage.

Use a toothpaste that is designed for veneers to avoid scratching or chipping them. Also be sure to use a soft bristled toothbrush to avoid unnecessary abrasion. Do not use a mouthwash with alcohol. Alcohol and other astringents can loosen the bonding that holds your veneers in place, making them more likely to fall out and become lost.

During your porcelain veneers consultation with Dr. Sands, all of these things will be discussed with you in full.
